I’ve always felt I’ve lived a charmed and blessed life. I’ve met amazing people and done incredible things along the way. It hasn’t been without pain and loss. Quite the contrary.

Sometimes I’ve had to make a conscious choice to stand up in defiance of what hurt, sweep the glass from the wreckage, and make my way back toward happiness. I believe my higher power helped me along that journey, sometimes carrying me when I couldn’t carry myself. I know what I’ve lost, and I know how much I’ve been given. I’m still blessed.

Lyrics

I've stood in rooms after the truck left
With dust still risin' in the hall
Heard the old screen door creak
Like it missed somebody's call
I've asked You questions on the porch swing
While rain ran down the tin
When I couldn't see the road ahead
You lit my way again

I've lost more than I wanted to
Cried tears I couldn't hide
Had mornings up and movin'
Sat back down and cried
But dawn lays golden light across the floor
And mercy meets me there like before
After all this life has taken
I'm still blessed
I'm still blessed
I'm still blessed

There's a difference between grieving
And letting sadness take the reins
One lets the ache roll through your chest
One keeps you, tied up in chains
You can sit beside the wreckage
Or get up and sweep the glass
Healing doesn't mean you don't miss 'em
It means you let the hard days pass

I've lost more than I wanted to
Cried tears I couldn't hide
Had mornings up and movin'
Sat back down and cried
But dawn lays golden light across the floor
And mercy meets me there like before
After all this life has taken
I'm still blessed

This too shall pass the preacher said
The hurt and good alike
So I'm learnin' to not chase tomorrow
Or live in yesterday's light
When the house falls quiet
And no one answers the phone
I say a prayer at night
And know I'm not alone

I've lost more than I wanted to
But I've been given so much more
A hand to hold through hard seasons
A peace worth fightin' for
I don't need a crowd at the table
Or pockets full of gold
After all this life has taken
I'm still blessed
By grace that carried me
I'm still blessed

When the night comes down around me
You are still my morning light
When my strength runs low on empty
You're still the reason I fight
Every scar became a story
Every tear became a prayer
After all this life has taken
I'm still standin' here
By grace that carried me
By the love that brought me through
With every breath You've given me
I give it back to You
After all this life has taken
I'm still blessed
I'm still blessed

After all this life has taken
I'm still blessed
Through the tears and the breakin'
I'm still blessed
With every breath You've given me
I'm still blessed
